LUCKIAMUTE WATERSHED COUNCIL MINUTES
January 11, 2007
VOLUNTEER HALL, MONMOUTH, OR
INTRODUCTION:
The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by Michael Cairns, coordinator. ACTION: Kirk moves, Wade seconds approval of the December 2006 minutes were approved.
Guests: Scott Snedaker, BLM Fisheries Biologist, is introduced as an expert who will later help us with the action planning process. Steve Lilly, new outreach/membership coordinator with the Green Belt Land Trust, is also visiting.
BUSINESS:
Officer elections: David Anderson, Jim Clawson and Kenn Carter have all indicated they would be willing to serve again. No word from Ann Stewart.
Nominations: ACTION -- David Anderson is nominated for chair by Gail Oberst, seconded by Garth Mulkey. APPROVED, UNANIMOUS. Wade Edris is nominated by Kirk, seconded by Shawn, for vice chair. Discussion about whether Ann would want the position again this year. APPROVED, UNANIMOUS. Votes for secretary and treasurer occur next month.
Coordinator’s Report (See attached LWC Coordinator Report for January 2007)
Northwest Stream Restoration symposium at Skamania Lodge – an OWEB scholarship is paying tuition (~$350). Cairns seeks funding for half of lodging expenses. ACTION: Kirk moves, Garth seconds spending $105. APPROVED, UNANIMOUS.
South Fork Ash Creek project – Still waiting for a permit.
Outreach coordinator – Still waiting for grant information from Spirit Mountain Community Fund.
Oversight committees – Could the committees report each month on projects?
Action Planning
Shawn leads the prioritization process, explains the scoring and criteria and leads discussion about the meaning and interpretations of the questions. Scott suggests that some of the assumptions made as a group during the prioritization process should be recorded. Next month the process will continue.
Announcements – Several articles about the watershed last month – Salem Monthly, Statesman-Journal. Garth asks that meeting announcements be sent to his mulkeyfarm@yahoo.com address.
