May, 03 2008 - Buena Vista Road Clean-Up
When: Saturday, May 03rd
Where: Buena Vista Road, near Luckiamute Landing State Park
Description: Join the LWC in cleaning up the road near the Luckiamute bridge. The LWC has adopted this stretch of road through the Polk County's Adopt-A-Road program. February, 22nd & 23rd 2008 - Polk SWCD Native Plant Sale
When: Friday and Saturday, February 22nd and 23rd
Where: Rickreall Bargain Center
Description: Contact the Polk SWCD to place an order for native plants including flowers, shrubs and trees. A portion of the proceeds will support scholarships for local students. For more information contact the Polk SWCD at 503-623-9680 x107 or visit www.polkswcd.org
February, 16 2008 - LWC Planting Party
When: Saturday, February 16 from 9 AM to 1 PM
Where: Independence (Directions provided upon registration)
Description: The Luckiamute Watershed Council needs your help to transplant native seedlings into pots. The plants will be cared for through the summer and then used for riparian restoration projects in the fall. By growing the plants for a year we are able to purchase more plants and have more survive once planted along the riverbanks. Tools and supplies will be provided, however if you have a favorite shovel, feel free to bring it along. Also, please bring gloves and dress for the weather, the event will be rain or shine. Drinks and lunch will also be provided.
